I am having a problem with my 2000 Hyundai Elantra. The idle has been revving erratically. This happens when I am driving and put the car in neutral. The engine will rev up and down until the car comes to a complete stop. Once at a stop, the idle goes down. I have taken it in to be looked at twice and both times they cleaned the carbon buildup, but this did not fix the problem. Last week the check engine light came on so I took it in and they replaced the O2 sensor. This did not fix the problem either. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can check next or what I should do? Thanks!

This could be a vacuum leak or a worn out idle control solenoid. It could also be a sensor that is out of range or an electrical problem. Many factors come into play. You should start with the basics right now. Have the fuel pressure checked and go from there. Steve
