2000 Nissan Frontier V6 3.3 L 150k miles
Was driving truck when it started sputtering, then it went away. No check engine light came on. Kept driving the truck for the rest of the day, then it came back, but worst. It sputtered to the point where it turned off. I tapped the Distributor cap with screwdriver handle and it started, so I replaced the cap and rotor the next day. It was working fine for one day, then it came back. When its cold it runs ok, when i drive it for a while it starts to sputter. I tap the distributor cap and it goes away. Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

Funny that when you tap the cap the problem goes away. Would make you think that something is going on inside the distributor.
There is an optical position sensor inside the distributor that could have a bad electrical connection or the sensor itself is starting to fail. Really the only way you can figure that out is by using a scope and watching the sensor's waveform to see if it is glitching or not when the problem is occurring. That or swap the distributor with a known good one and see if your problem goes away.

I'm going to double check the connections to see if there is anything that could be causing that. I think eventually I am going to have to replace the Distributor. Thanks for the Information.

Check connection for sure. Is it dirty, dusty under cap? Some may just clear out with gentle use of compressed air if so,
