2000 Opel Astra stalls when idle

Hello, I own a Opel Astra 2000, 1.4L, 160k KM. A few months ago the car started using an unusual long time to start after turning the ignition, up to 3 seconds, but not every time. A week ago it begun to stall when I used the clutch/neutral, now it won't start unless I press the gas pedal at the same time as I turn the ignition, so I have to constantly feed it. It will however idle for a second or two if I haven't used it for a few hours. The car will "choke"/"cough" forward at low RPM. I haven't tried anything so far, I was hoping for some pointers first.

I don't think there's a version of this car sold to the US where most of us are. Seems like a fuel pressure problem at a glance and would check that it is up to spec and holds it's pressure, T

I'd be more inclined to believe it would be an idle air control system fault if you have to feather the gas to keep the engine running. I looked and it seems to have a stepper motor IAC. Try cleaning the throttle body, idle air control pintle and bore and see what happens. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Before I even got to the part of checking the engine, the problem went away... now it runs smoothly and idles at around 900RPM. I have no clue what happened.

? Been a few weeks and don't think it's really fixed or gone just yet. 900 RPM is a bit high so I think it's learned how to cover a fault and might show a code that would help but don't reset codes just yet. Back to IAC as DS said to a sensor that tell it what the engine temp is called both an ECT or CTS or even an unmetered vacuum leak or any vacuum leak. I'd get codes read as I suspect it will do it again? T
