I have a 2000 Mercury Sable 3.0 V6 with 160K and an automatic transmission. Recently my car has begun making a quiet, rapid clicking sound coming from the right front end of my car. It only happens during accelleration, and never happens in first gear or reverse. As soon as I take my foot off the gas or put the car into neutral, the clicking stops. Also, if I keep the car's RPMs low enough (around 2000) it doesn't happen as much. I have recently changed my oil and filters. Any ideas what the problem is?

Sounds like you may have an exhaust leak possible near the manifold or even the EGR tube. Try to follow the noise to it's source to pinpoint it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You might also want to check the motor mounts some are hydrolic damp and the one on top of the motor when worn can let it tilt back to far
