2000 pontiac firebird wont start. Please help!

2000 pontiac firebird v6 132,000 miles. engine type: 3800 series II
I was driving home when my car died on me on the street. Tried to restart it and it will die. If i put my foot on the gas pedal it will rev up but once i release it, it will die again. If I leave the car alone for a couple hours I can come back and the car will start for 5 or 10 min then die again. Any ideas as to what it can be?

There is a bunch of different things that could cause that problem.....
1st step would be to pull the codes and see if any are stored.
Is the check engine light on while the engine is running?
