Ok, I have a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country 3.3 liter engine, with 180,000 miles on it. Last year, my wife and I discovered this vehicle could run on flex fuel. So with the cost of gas, we used this feature. The van ran great all summer. However, when we had the first overnight freeze, the van would not start the following morning. It cranked and tried, but would never fire up. A couple of days later I was able to start the vehicle and actually drive it. However, it does not run properly. If you listen and or watch the exhaust at the pipe, it is spitting. You can also feel this as the van shakes. It does not die or anything. I took it to a mechanic who claimed it was the ethonal fuel and that the problem could only be spark plugs or an injector. After ruling out the injectors he changed plugs and problem still exist. I have tried fuel injector cleaner but still nothing. I have guessed catalytic convertor but am not mechanic and do not know how to test my guess. I guessed that based on the fact I can occasionaly smell gas inside the car. I am tired of taking vehicles to mechanics arround here that charge me a grand and actually fix nothing. So I would like to have a few solid ideas of what is going on before I take it back in anywhere. Or maybe I can fix it myself.
