Hi, Favian, and welcome to the forum. If the engine is running too rich, yes, you will waste fuel. If running too rich, you can damage the engine and/or the catalytic converter. So, it's not something that you want to neglect. There are multiple causes, unfortunately. Fuel pressure too high, leaky injector, engine temp, faulty sensors, ect. You'll need to have diagnostics run to find the cause. Talk with friends, relatives, BBB, ect. to find a shop that you can trust. Most 'mechanics' are professionals and are there to 'fix' things. I know that there are a few bad apples out there, but auto repair now takes trained technicians. No different than any other profession. The computers on today's vehicles aren't a crystal ball. They will tell us what system is having a problem, but then comes the knowledge to determine why the computer is seeing that problem. It's not as simple as most think. An EGR code doesn't mean the EGR valve is bad. It means that the computer is seeing a problem in the EGR system. Could be a solenoid, the valve, plugged passageway, sensor, ect. So, bottom line, find and establish a relationship with a shop that you feel you can trust. Loren SW Washington

Possibly a faulty return fuel regulator.. clogged air intake, like a filter for example... or the excess gas may have foweled your plugs to a point where its not igniting to the fullest combusting the gas
