2001 mustang weird problems Sign In

ok so i bought a 01 mustang from a buddy its been settin 2 years.. he said the fuel pump was bad i just wired the shut off switch together in the back works fine.. but bank 1 keeps flooding and im thinking its injectors if i bleed off the system manually after i shut it off it starts fine.. but if i dont it misses and all 3 plugs are fouled. its a 3.8 btw. well even when it runs right if you drive it it has a serious loss of power it will shift fine of you baby it but if u get into the footfeet it delays a second and then revs the engine and doesnt seems to want to go. i understand its not a hotrod but i want good or at least decent acceleration from it i remeber what it used to be like when he drove it. also its completely stock. i checked the coil pack its fine. no codes at all. i would say o2 ensor except after u dry the plugs out it runs fine until you shut it off and let it set for a while. im wondering if the injectors are leaking back after it sets. it seems to be but also doesnt solve the problem. any help is appreciated

You'll have to do some testing using an accurate fuel pressure gauge looking at the rest pressure with the key on, key off and injectors unplugged to isolate what is happening.

i figured i would however.. the system is suppose to drain off normally. if i unplug the injectors it will leak out of the injector if its stuck open anyway wont it? thats where im having a mental problem lol if the system bleeds off after a while normally how am i gonna tell if it is a leaky injector or just normal pressure loss?

No, it's not supposed to leak down. If it is you need to find out where it is going and why. This is probably beyond your ability and you will likely need to get this diagnosed professionally.

How did you wire the switch? You do mean the inertia switch right? This one should be returnless, so you might need a scan tool to see fuel rail pressure and other data pids.

yes it was the inertia switch lol. and this is not beyond my capability i dont appreciate you treating me like an amateur just because i asked a question. i have a lot of experience with engines however that is limited mostly to mid 90s and older. i dont own newer vehicles and am not used to the new systems. that does not however make me incapable of working on it i just need to study it further. the reason i ask the questions is because it isnt showing a code. generally meaning the computer isnt sensing any problems and there is obviously a problem. didnt know if this had happened to other people or not and also i forgot to add when i start the car the O/D off light comes on not flashing just coming on and i have to shut it off every time.

Oh, but it does. You have no comprehension of how this system works and therefore will not be able to troubleshoot what is leaking down and why.
Your problem may be mechanical or it may be electrical and someone needs to be able to determine that.

You have two options. One is to lift the rail and pressurize the system and visually look for leaking injectors. The other method requires a fuel pressure gauge on the rail and shut off valve to isolate the fuel rail from the rest of the fuel delivery system. You pressurize the rail with the pump then close the valve. If the rail pressure drops with the valve closed, you know you have injector(s) leaking.
