2002 Aztek Loss of Engine Power Sign In

2002 Pontiac Aztek

Engine size: 3.4
Mileage/Kilometers: 50,000

Hello Everyone! I'm having some major car troubles and I would appreciate it if someone could lead me in the right direction. All of a sudden I noticed that when I'm driving, the dash will indicate that the car is overheating and I will also lose engine power when I press on the gas. However, when I pull over and check the engine to see what is wrong, the engine feels very cool and there is no sign of the engine overheating! I did notice fluid pumping to the tank connected from the radiator. Also while I'm driving and the dash indicates overheating, I turn the heat on to try cool the engine down and no hot air comes out. I have to keep pulling over and waiting so I can regain engine power when I press the gas. There was no liquid comming from the exhaust and the oil looked good (no mixing with fluid)

I would really appreciate it if there is anyone out there who could suggest what my problem is and how I should fix it.

Thank you for time!!

Ed

It sounds, from your symptoms, that it is in fact overheating. You may have lost enough coolant so your heater is no longer putting out heat. The coolant going into the reservoir is definitely an attention grabber. Have the cooling system purged of air and pressure tested ASAP.
