Can you put a 1985 Marquis 302 engine in a 2002 Ford Explorer? Will I have to do any mods? If so, what? Also, does the 302 bolt up to the 4.6L transmission? Thanks.

Two totally different engines and generations of controls of them. Even if you could fit it in there's so much missing on the 302/5.0 that the 2002 4.6 needs it would be an endless nightmare, T

Whats with so many people wanting to do crazy swaps lately? Must be too many garage shows on speed and velocity networks. ____________________________________________________ Willing to help, willing to learn... Rob

My guess is people don't have any money and they have an old crapper in the back yard that they think they can take parts out of to install in a vehicle they bought for $500 not running that doesn't have anything at all in common other than the manufacture's name. No pretty much sums up the answer to the OPs question. That's unless you have lots of money to blow on engineering and fabrication to make something like that feasible and safe. It wouldn't be legal though if the feds caught you driving it on public roads. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

That and you have make 20 of them so they can be crash tested to see how engine smashes into firewall safely or not in a collision at assorted angles - no chance on this swap, T
