Hey folks


2002 Chevy Blazer
93120 miles
6cyl. Auto trans

She said it tapped when she 1st started it 2 weeks ago , then it went away .........went a few days and it stared again , I looked at it yesterday NO tap...... Oil pressure by dash was 25-30 at idle.. Today its tapping to beat the band...Mad she uses 5w-30 Any help????

Could be a lifter tick, could be a rod knock. Hard to tell without hearing it. Have you run it low on oil?

As far as I know never low on oil, Can the valves be adj. on this motor?

Valve are near certainly self adjusting via hydraulic lifters. If you've been bad with oil changes you could have sticking lifters and sludge. 25 for oil pressure isn't so good IMO. I'd change the oil to high end oil - I like synthetics. I wouldn't use snake oils as there may be a mechanical problem and just new oil is detergent enough if old now. Noises are tough to tell without witnessing them and even then some are elusive,
