1984 Chevrolet 1 ton 6.2L diesel pickup with 93000 original miles. It worked fine yesterday but today I went out to start it and the glow plug "wait" light didn't come on! I waited a little while and tried to start it! It just turned over. It wouldn't fire. I don't know why it wont start considering yesterday it was working fine. Is it a fuse making this problem?

There is a 20a fuse for the system so check all your fuses. If the fuse is good check for power at terminals 30 & 85 of the glow plug relay with the key on. If there is power on both terminals & the glow plug circuit has a good path to ground you are probably looking at a bad controller. You could momentarily jump between term 30 & 87 for a couple of seconds, this would power the glow plugs and if it starts this would help confirm a possible bad controller.

If you have power at 30 & 85 with the key on, a good ground path thru the glow plug circuit & the controller is attempting to ground the relay at 86, then you probably have a bad relay

I've seen guys wire in a toggle switch between term 86 & ground and manually power the glow plugs to bypass the controller but you run the risk of burning out the glow plugs if you leave the switch on too long.

I've also seen guys use starting fluid or WD-40 to get em going but we know we're not suppose to do that either.Cool

I checked and its the fuse that keeps blowing! As soon as I turn the key it works and charges the glow plugs but it snaps a couple seconds later.
