87 Oldsmobile 98 Timing ??

Hello all I have a 1987 oldsmobile 98 3.8ltr. It has been giving me code 32 (egr circut) for about 3 months but ran well enough with the vacuum hose disconnected not to bother me. Today it acts like the timing jumped (firing through the intake assembly), could this be caused by the egr circut, if the timing did jump would that trigger an error code. If anyone has any input please please leave reply any comment will be welcome

The egr system helps cold starts and lower the combustion temp....you might need to have compression test done but not saying that it haven't jump timing,... considering the vehicle is 21 years old and would have it check also.
