My son's Reliant quit on him last week, seems to not be getting gas. How do I check as to whether it is a fuel pump, a relay or solenoid? Car runs great when it is getting fuel, just isn't worth much anymore and he would like to keep it running as cheaply as possible. Thanks. DG

I believe that there is two units’ back at the tank one is the fuel pump and the other is the fuel gauge. The pump is the unit that is situated more toward the driver’s side, disconnect the electrical connector and connect a test light across the two terminals. Have an assistant crank the engine and if the test light lights then most likely the fuel pump is at fault. If it doesn’t light then you either have a wiring issue, relay problem or a control (computer) problem. Keep it fun Dan. Canadian "EH"
