96 century 3.1 115k oil leak? Sign In

3 years ago I had the LIM gaskets changed by a reputable[?] shop and the car has ran just like new. Noticed lately there's oil leaking in the intake valley. Is there some thing else that might leak oil in the intake valley besides the LIM gaskets? I'm thinking of retorqueing all the bolts to see if it will help at all. Supposedly the improved felpro gasket set was used and only lasted 5k miles/3 years, should last longer than that. Any ideas or suggestions?

OK, I'll bite. What is a LIM gasket?

Don't make up acronyms and assume someone else is going to know what you are talking about.

The gaskets themselves don't seal out any oil. They only seal the intake and water ports. The oil is sealed in by silicone at both ends of the gasket/manifold that would have been applied by the installer.

OK thought LIM was universal to techs, anyways thanks for the input. So the only fix is a teardown and new intake manifold gasket set to be installed? If oil is leaking in that valley those gaskets can be the only source? Realize you stated the silicone was the problem, seems only way to reseal it is a complete r&r.

It's not leaking at the gasket. Like i said, it is sealed with silicone so if it's leaking, the installer did a sloppy job of sealing the ends. The gaskets are on the sides only. there are no gaskets for the ends.
