96 chevy 1500 silverado won't shut down when I turn off ignition

Hello. New to the forum and I have a dilemma. I recently did an engine swap for a friend on his 96 chevy 1500 4x4 TBI350, standard trans. Everything went good but when I was done I had 3 dash lights that stayed on when the ignition key was turned off. It started fine and runs good but when I turn off the ignition it keeps running. I have checked the three ground areas, main on back of the passenger side head, bad and block to frame ground straps and the two 2 wire grounds that connect to the I take bolt front drivers top of motor. I would think for sure that it was something I had done or not done because the truck started and shut down fine when I pulled it in to swap the engine. But while I was working on the truck my friends son had been playing with the keys and ignition so I'm stumped. Any help?. thanks

Were there any differences at all i the engine hookups? Anything have to be modified? Exact same engine? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Only difference was that the original engine had a soft plug block heater and the engine I installed does not. So I removed the heater chord, but all other Co nnections were the same. I used the coil from the engine I removed but that engine ran good with a slight knock (#5 rod bearing spun). Does the ignition cut off positive power to the coil or ground the coil to kill the engine?

All of the ignition and injector power is supplied by fuses that are in turn powered by the ignition switch so you need to take a hard look at the ignition switch.
