97 Toyota Camry Overheating

Recently, my 97 Toyota Camry has been over heating. The radiator cracked and the fans don't appear to run. I replaced the Radiator and Fan switch in the bottom of the radiator, but the engine is still running extremely hot and the fans are not coming on. What could be the possible causes of this? The engine smokes a little. I assumed this was due to spilled water/coolant on the exhaust while changing the radiator, but it could be involved.

Do the fans come on when the a/c is turned on?
1st you want to make sure the fan motor is good.
Then verify that it is actually going past temp & not turning on, you can go by the gauge in the dash, you need to see what the comp is seeing so you'll need a scanner.
depending on what you find out there will tell you which direction you need to go

Sounds like yo0u got it too hot and now you have a blown head gasket. You just admitted that the fans don't work and you're still driving it so you probably should start looking for another engine.

The fans come on when the AC is on. The engine temperature gauge goes hot after just a few minutes of running. I'm not driving it, i just turned it on long enough to see if the changing the radiator fixed the problem. How can i tell if a head gasket was blown?
