Sounds like you just need a new truck.

More than likely you need a complete tune up (unless it has been recently completed) including all filters. If the converter is making a noise, the converter needs replaced. With that mileage on it, I would go aftermarket converter on it. We use Midas on our non emergency vehicles. Good luck.

Don't hold me to this, but I don't think COP was out for the W & 6 Triton engines in 97. They were still using the coil packs and plug wires. I always disliked routing all those plug wires around the alternator. Every time I do one of those I think I am weaving a basket.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Re: 97 f150 misfireing Sign In

true, don't work on much older stuff hard to keep track.. wouldn't be a bad idal to pull the coils off and check for cracks too while your at it then.. Look on the bottom side for any obvious cracks and for any on the plastic cover of the coil.. might be hard to see, but you can usally see little rust trails where cracks are.
