So my car started not building oil pressure after the serpentine belt broke. When the belt broke I did drive the car a couple of miles but the temp never went above 200 on the gage. After replacing the belt the oil pressure issue showed it’s ugly head. In the morning if you start the car up it will not build pressure but if you take the oil filter off and fill it with oil reinstall it. Then when you fire the car up after about 15 seconds or so the oil pressure build up to 50psi. If you do this in the morning every time through out the day it will build pressure fine but after sitting all night the no pressure thing comes back! I don’t know the magical time period that it need to sit before this happens but it has built pressure after sitting for 4 hours. I have tried different (3) oil filters thinking may be the first one was just a bad filter, then just change the oil for the second time (I changed it since I was working on the car changing the belt the first time)

Bunny; Sounds like the check valve in the oil pump has gone off and left you. A new oil pump is not that expensive, but the labor might 'get' you. Nevertheless, better get it taken care of before serious engine damage is done. Loren SW Washington
