Search this forum this category all forums for All words Any words Whole Phrase (search options) Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Engine Troubleshooting dirtyd New User Dec 28, 2011, 4:09 PM Post #1 of 3 (2003 views) 99 grand prix se No start Sign In had a car roll of the hook today with no start, no crank issue. heres what we did to no avail....... replaced the starter (2x both rebuilt from part warehouse) replaced battery ( tested bad) inspected all electrical connections (all connections are good) the problem is still here. I will get a solnoid click, the bendex engages(but stays out after key release), it seem as if theres not enough amps to crank. So we took the 300amp boost box and jumped the starter and it cranks, started and ran. We then tried with the key again after and nothing but a click. any input would be great Thanks (This post was edited by dirtyd on Dec 28, 2011, 4:11 PM) Tom Greenleaf Ultimate Carjunky / Moderator Dec 28, 2011, 4:22 PM Post #2 of 3 (1986 views) Re: 99 grand prix se No start Sign In A few thoughts and may-bees with this situation where it works with a "boost box" but not on it's own. * Charge new battery with a charger not counting on the car. * New battery may be bad - shock but it happens. * GM side posts are famous for lousy corrosion unseen without a careful look. Seems like you just don't get the amps delivered to the starter and probably connections at the battery are a trouble spot, T dirtyd New User Dec 28, 2011, 4:37 PM Post #3 of 3 (1977 views) Re: 99 grand prix se No start Sign In ya i was thinking the battery i will have to send it back in the morning and see. thinking it might be a bad cell. and as far as connections go i know all about GM ground gremlens....all connnections were R&r, and cleaned. i been a wrench for a few years and have never seen an issue like this.
