9 suburban, flex plate noise Sign In

i just installed a used motor in my 99 suburban last week. everything was fine until yesterday, then it started making a noise like the flwexplate had come loose, i checked the flexplate to torque converter bolts, has 3, they were tight, but now i see a bright area around the outside of the flexplate where it looks like it is hitting on the starter body, why would it all of a sudden do this now. and what can i do about it, could the flexplate be cracked.

The flex plate to crankshaft bolts could be loose, or the flex plate cracked, which is very common. Any vibration associated with the noise? Did you use your original flex plate, or the one that came with the motor?

you obviousy didn't read my post and pay attention, i stated that i already checked the flexplate bolts and they were not loose, i also stated that the flexplate had an area that looked like it was being rubbed on by the starter body, i was just wondering why it would be rubing against the starter now after it was fine for a week.

Also the flex plate to torque converter bolts (your description) are not the same bolts as flex plate to crank shaft (Lorens description). So in other words you are a dumb ass!!!

Well sir you may not have been trying to be rude but you were without trying. I would suggest thinking before you speak. That way you don't offend the folks that are trying to give you free help and advise. Every mod on this site sees it the same way, including the mod you were rude to. He communicated that to me via PM last night. So think before you speak. Have a nice day.Smile

Bruce; How would you have taken that? Just human nature.
>>and i wrote back to her and we saw eye to eye<<
Yes, you wrote back, but this is my FIRST reply to that. Hmmmm.
I am a Christian too. And, a male.
Good luck with the trans.

Hmmmm.....I thought that the fact that you were a male was pretty plain since there is a Sr. at the end of your name. I guess it could be overlooked if someone "didn't read or pay attention". Wink
