I have a 94 Acura Integra GSR, 200xxx miles, manual transmission. 1.8L engine, DOHC VTEC. For 10 years, I put premium gas in it (per the manual). Was getting ready to sell it, so started putting in lowest octane for last few months. Then, bad things happened. Low power (10% of previous power initially), bad and noisy compression (runs like a diesel), engine sounds like it wants to die and very low power when short-shifting, idle surges from low to high. Since then, I finished out the tank of low octane gas, ran 3 tanks of highest octane, STP fuel injection cleaner, SeaFoam in gas tank, floored it on the highway in hopes to clean out fuel injectors. It's running halfway better now, but not nearly 100%, more like 50%. Still have all the above symptoms. Your thoughts? Also, at the same time, my heater stopped working correctly. Don't know how in the world these 2 issues could be connected. Might not be related, but both issues occurred at the same time. It's a secondary problem, but it's still an issue since it is winter. 60% of the time, it sends out luke warm air. 20% of the time, it works great (hot air), 20% of the time, it blasts out cold air. Letting car run idle for 5 - 10 minutes seems to have no effect. Car is stored in the garage. It's probably 45 degrees in there. Heater success seems to increase somewhat with running time, but not a guarantee. Thanks for taking a look at this post. Any input would be appreciated.

How thoughtful of you to put substandard fuel in it for the next person to deal with! The noise you hear could be damage from detonation and now in need of engine work. Heater involved too suggestive of head gasket issue which could have been weak and detonation was the straw. To save a buck you may have just wasted the whole value of the car, T
