1987 Mazda B2000 5 spd. The truck blew an old radiator hose on the freeway. When I got off I let it stop steeming and waited 20min. or so, filled it back up with water and drove it home. I put on new hoses filled it up and ran it for a wile and found another leak in a small hose under the intake manifold and a few pin holes in the radiator. I replaced the hose removed the radiator and had it fixed and cleaned. I put it all back together and now it won't start. It almost fires but wont start. It gets spark at all 4 plugs. the timing looks good, there is fuel in the tank and fuel comes out of the excelerator pump. There is also a "EGR" light on that wasn't there before. Ideas? jh

Your going to have to remove the spark plugs and pressure test the cooling system. You likely got it hot enough to blow a head gasket and you are getting coolant into the cylinders now. A compression test may be helpful also. If you had that many different leaks at once, then you have been neglecting the system for a while. I'm not sure what you did to "repair" the radiator but today's radiators are pretty much unrepairable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

The radiator was removed and taken to a shop, cleaned flow tested and a few pin holes that were on a tank seam repaired. Is the pressure test on the coolant system easly done? Thanks jh

Yes, you just simply attach it to the filler and pump it up, watching for pressure drop.

That's a maintenance reminder that goes on at 60,000 mikes to tell you to replace the EGR and O/2 sensor and reset the timing. There is a connector under the dash that has to be disconnected to reset the light.
