Ok I have a 95 Ford Aerostar, not positive of the engine, its not here so I cant walk out and check. Its acting like the battery or alternator are bad but I have had both tested several times and thats not it. It is dying while driving and sometimes it starts and sometimes you try to turn it over and there is no beeping, lights etc like the battery is dead. So according to auto zone, orielly and advance the battery and alternator are good and I changed the battery cables just incase. When it wont start you can hook cables up to it and it tries to start (1/2 of the time it does half it doesnt_) what in the world could be wrong???Also you can start it and drive it for 2 minutes and shut it off and then it acts like the battery is dead just from shutting it off and back on in 1 minute :/

You need to first have the battery tested and once you have a passing battery, test the charging system in the car. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

What did the CCA test at in the battery? Removing the alternator to test it doesn't tell you anything. You need to test the whole car.

I dont know what that is, they just told me nothing is wrong with the battery that it tested good and I had the alternator tested with it on the vehicle.

If everything you're telling me is true, then you have to have a connection problem somewhere in the battery cables.

I wouldn't be so sure. What you're telling me just isn't adding up. Cable problems don't only show up when hot. Faulty charging systems do.

I dont know unless its having more than 1 issue. Ok drove it earlier, did fine all day starting and going and everything. Stopped at bi-lo was in there for maybe 5 minutes. Came out it wouldnt start like the battery was dead. Hooked cables to it and was trying to start but nothing happened. Left it sitting there for about 2o minutes to run to get smokes, tried to start it and it actually started. Started pulling out of the parking place and it died (all lights went off like a dead battery) and would not even attempt to start back up/

Go ahead and check all the battery and power supply connections then.

The Aerostar is proof that engineers don't like mechanics. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Lol apparently not :( I have been tryin to figure out this van(talking to everyone I can think of ) and my husband works on cars and cant figure it out. It seems like something battery related to me and the only other thing Ive heard is the ignition control thing, but didnt think the ignition has anything to do with it staying running.
