1997 Buick Park Avenue with a 99 Park Ave 3.8-all computers switched with install. 60,000 on motor. This started out as a simple stall issue. The code thrown was MAF low frequency. Changed out the MAF sensor. Car started up and drove home. The two days later it started stalling again. Changed out the MAF again and checked the voltage at the pigtail per All Data-everything checked out. On a whim I also changed the TPS. Car ran great for a week then started the same stalling issue and started throwing a bank 1 & 2 too rich code. Swapped out TPS again (vehicle owner's request), swapped out MAP sensor, PCV, and cleaned EGR passage (owner's request again). Today he messages me to tell me the RPM's are all over the place...then it putted along at 1000 RPM with no response from the pedal, rev up to redline, then back to 1000. I'm at my wit's end with this car. I'm thinking possibly a screwed up ECM? Any help or advice would be appreciated!

just_wrenchin; First, ECMs '96 and newer must be programmed. Need to address the rich codes. Leaky injector(s)? If this continues, a plugged cat is in the future. Loren SW Washington

According to the owner, everything was programmed when the motor was installed. I should have added, this is not a new install, the 99 motor ran fine in the car for 3 years prior to this issue. Would the leaky injectors cause the 1000 rpm/redline issue?

Just_wrenchin; No, I can't see it as causing a fast idle, but definitely a rich condition. Unless, the IAC is trying to compensate for the rich condition? Of course, check for vacuum leaks. Loren SW Washington

Wow, I'm slacking as a tech describing this. I'm forgetting too many details of things that I've done. I checked for vacuum leaks when the MAF code first popped up. The rich code hasn't popped oddly enough since I replaced the PCV and MAP sensor. This car is seriously driving me nuts. Thanks for all the advice so far though loren
