1979 dodge/mitsubishi D50 2.0 ltr 4cyl mitsubishi motor (factory stock) 153000 miles (i Guess) odometer only shows 5 digits 4 spd manual trans ok so I am sure you have answered this question numerous times but here goes: This P.O.S would typically drive fine under 40 mph but stall or lose power like someone was hitting the brakes and turning the key off at higher rpms and or milage or going uphill most recently. I tried a fuel filter and cap replacement, now it wont start. It has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, however the parts store didn't have the exact same fuel filter. mine is all metal with three ports on the side one inlet, and two outlets to the mikuni solex carb, the new one has one inlet on the bottom , one outlet on the side and one outlet on top plus its way smaller in diameter could this be why it wont at least start now? Or should I plan on replacing the fuel pump and scraping the solex for a weber red line as advised by the d 50 forums? most people tell me the solex carbs are junk and to be wary of them. I really like this little truck but it seems no one has any knowledge of what parts fit and what don't, also most don't have enough common mechanical sense to answer my questions about it either without wanting a benjamin to "diagnose" what's really going on with it.

ok that truck has the same 2.0L as the 89 mighty max i have and im in the same boat with you. look around the intake while having someone turning over the engine, if you see what looks like smoke, its actually fuel vapors seeping by some how. but if you dont see this i would suggest get a new carb for it, but the down side is they are rather pricey
