89 FORD E-150 w/5ltr EFI engine & AOD Trans w/110,000 miles. A qt of oil disappears every 100 miles. It's not blowing smoke or coming out the tailpipe, engine is not leaking & it's not in the radiator. Oil gage stays in center. Where is it going? Also, it drastically loses power up hills and shift into overdrive but instead of overheating the temp gage goes down below the N in normal returning to M when over the hill.
I just had a major $800.00 tune up which included new erg valve and it didn’t help al all. I’ve been to 5 or 6 auto mechanics and their answer is "I don’t know offhand but leave it overnight and for a hundred bucks or more we’ll diagnose it for you."

?? Rusty oil pan?? May only leak at a certain angle and not make a mess. Also if you have the low oil sensor it could leak to about 1 quart low or so and again may not make a mess??

Re: Disspaaearing oil Sign In

I personally own a 94 chevy c1500 350 engine with a similar problem. I would use about 2quarts every 2000 miles. NO leaks and no other signs of external loss. It was burning it but with no smoke, not even at start up in the morning.
Since i have changed from using Havoline 10w30 oil to castrol 10w30 i have had no problem.

I also had a friend who had a toyota celica bought it when it was 1 year old and had a bad oil consumption problem. 3 quarts a week (mileage would vary) Again no leaks, I simply found it was burning it. Friend took it to Toyota service center and they confirmed my diagnosis.
Hope this helps
