1988 Chevy C3500 - Cheyenne, extended cab. Brand new (Jegs) 350 motor. Problem: Noticeable vibration upon initial acceleration. Engine mounts are intact. History: The vehicle was recently T-Boned in the driver's side door at high speed. The frame is not bent, nothing but the door and floor in the cabin got crunched. The vehicle drives straight so I know it wasn't knocked out of alignment. The vehicle was taken to a shop where they replaced the distributor and altered the fuel mixture in the carb to get it running again. The vibration became noticeable after the accident. Moreover, the repair tech said it was running "rich." I think they had to do that because the engine would not idle correctly - but that was the case even before the accident. Just one day ago, a loud clunking noise began coming from the engine but only when driving up hill - and the truck's ability to accelerate up hill is noticeably diminished. Can anyone provide some guidance?

Check your driveshaft alignment, universal joints and rear transmission mount that the back of the transmission is still centered. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Hmmm? This got hit that hard it bent up the cabin floor? !! Driving straight doesn't mean squat about how bent this might have been apparently hard enough to smash or what to distributor? OMG! What creation of JEGS engine did you think was "new" had a carb not listed for this? OK: If it ever ran well before this high speed mess of an accident IMO it's open to all kinds of damage. As said check the alignment and just look at the driveshaft one of the possible versions used a center support bearing can be a PITA to get right. IDK - If this got hit that hard you may have to think real hard about what to do with this and how much to straighten his truck out and I do mean frame and all the mounts on it from driveline, T
