2011 Chevy Avalanche. 5.3 liter. When running down the road at normal rpm's truck runs great. When you start to accelerate the truck jerks and shutters. Once the rpm's are up the truck runs fine again. I have changed the ignition coil packs, installed new spark plugs and plug wires. It did not help at all. I have run several (4 bottles) of heet water remover in case I got some water in the tank and have also run 2 bottles of Lucas injector cleaner through it, no change. I have a buddy who ownes a repair garage and hooked up his computer to it today and we drove the truck for 30 minutes with it jerking and shuttering and the computer is picking up no misfires at all. Has ANYONE experienced this problem with there Chevy truck? I need all the help I can get right now!!!

Can you try this with overdrive off? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

That pretty much eliminates the Torque Converter. You are going to have to somehow isolate whether this is engine or transmission related.

I agree. The reason I think it's engine is when it shutters the tachometer needle bounces. Thank you for response...

That's an important symptom. That would indicate that something is effecting the primary ignition.

One of the first things I'd take a hard look at is the Crank sensor and related wiring.

I went ahead and ordered a camshaft position sensor and cam position sensor connector. No more than they cost I figured it was worth a try. They will be here tomorrow so I will give it a try Friday or Saturday. Thank's..

Why would you do that? Nobody talked about a Cam sensor.

Sorry. I typed it wrong. I meant Crank. That is what I ordered.

I hope you realize changing this sensor requires a dealer level scan tool to perform the "Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn" after the new one is installed.

No. I was not aware of that. Look's like I'm just going to have to put it in the shop and let them do it.

You can install the sensor yourself but they will have to do the relearn procedure. The car will run, just not real good.

Carry on there's a code not showing up? Seems high voltage items are ruled out not so fast lots of defective new parts really cause hair loss. Yet to know I don't trust new coil packs, went almost bald over the things OMG failures out of the box new. Advice is cheap so just a suggestion don't toss parts like that rather one good guess at a time or now can't trust any of those all at once, Tom

No sir. No codes. About a week ago it had a code ( 1 time only) of number 5 cylinder misfire. That's why I changed that coil pack.

What item or part did you find caused that to pick on one cylinder? Plugs should have told you the clue. Did you mark and save those? Should have lots of info with the old ones, Tom
