I have a 1989 Ford F150 with a 300 6 cylinder, it has about 90 thousand miles on it. Lately it has a problem with jerking and bucking while I'm driving. I think it's a sensor problem and not the transmission. It starts and idles okay. I haven't changed anything in a good while. I did install a IAT several years ago.

I guess the first thing I would suggest is possibly a tune up including all filters. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

It has been tuned and all filters changed. I read that the thermostat could be the problem, if it's stuck open. It causes the engine to run rich because it never warms up enough. I changed the thermostat yesterday and the truck seems to be running fine, but the weather has also warmed up. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Thanks

Stay away from the thermastat & sensors..likely a set of plugwires will cure the problem.

Plugs and wires are new. The weather turned a little cooler in the mornings. It's jerking some but not like it was. I think maybe the MAPP sensor.

If you think you already know what the problem is and you disagree with the opinions you get, why are you asking us? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
