Ford Explorer engine troubles Sign In

EXPLORER SPORT STICK. AIR DOESNT WORK FOR YEARS. LOOK THIS THING HAS BEEN FAITHFUL TO ME. IT HAS SEEN ME THROUGH 273K MILES AND THOUGH IT IS A RUSTY TRUSTY IT HAS DEVELOPED A QUIRK.

OK SO. WHEN COLD IT STARTS AND GOES FINE. WHEN HOT IT WILL RUN A SECOND, OR STUMBLE AND TRY TO RUN BUT WONT GO FOR MORE THAN TWO SECONDS AND THAT TWO SECONDS IS A CONVULSION OF STUMBLING. WAIT AN HOUR AT HOME DEPOT,( ADMITTEDLY AND EASY THING TO DO) AND IT STARTS UP. RUNS LIKE A TOP. I USE GOOD GAS. IT DOES SEEM TO RUN A LITTLE RICH. I SMELL GAS SOMETIMES EVEN WHEN IT IS RUNNING PERFECT.

Please don't hijack old threads. Created a new thread just for you.

Year and engine size? Any trouble codes stored in the engine computer? If so, what are the trouble code numbers?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
