I need to know how to access the fuel pump on a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina, motor is 3.4 L 207 CID V6 DOHC, 125,000 miles on it. Do I need to drop the gas tank or is there an access panel somewhere? I'm considering on buying this car and don't want to tow it to my home to replace the pump, I live far away and towing would be too expensive. If I can access the pump easily (with some cars there is an access panel under the back seat or under the carpeting in the trunk), then I have a mechanic friend that can do it right there. Our current car's engine blew and we need this car right away. All it needs is the fuel pump replaced. Please, I really need an answer right away since we are without a car now and need one badly. Thanks in advance! My new email is hollandaze55@gmail.com.

The tank needs to be dropped. There is no access through the body.

Thanks for replying so fast. It's strange, my mercury tracer had an access cover under the back seat which made changing the fuel pump so much easier. One of Ford's better Ideas? Maybe Chevy ought to do the same. Thanks again! Smile
