Hello, and thanks for looking.

I'm having trouble getting my 98 jeep grand cherokee running.

I've replaced the radiator, exhaust manifold, battery and plugs recently.

The last thing I replaced was the battery and the radiator, after that it was running but real doggy and I was getting alot of white smoke out of the exhaust.

Now it'll crank and almost start, It's almost started with starter fluid, but didn't.

Any tips or ideas on what could be wrong will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Josh.

----edit----

I just seen on another post that a common problem with these is that the crack sensor passes by the some part of the exhaust, and can damage the sensor, if anyone could expand on this that'd be great.

----edit----

I got her to start, not sure what it was that did it, but now heres what's wrong, it's running real doggy, does not want to accerate all the time, and I got a popping nosie when pressing on the gas once (i drove it around the block)

Any ideas?

One last thing, it is running hot, not sure why, I only have water in it right now, and while driving around the block I have the heat on full blast and it just shot out cold air the whole time.

---update---

Decided to change the head gasket today, it was broken in one spot and the head has two tiny cracks in it very small hardly noticable, do you think putting the new gasket on alone would be enough or should I some how find money to replace the whole head?

Take the head to a Machine shop and have it dye tested to see if it is cracked and if it can be repaired
they will tell you if it needs replacing or not .
Don't buy a cheap head gasket and don't forget to put sealer on # 11 head bolt (if you Have the 4.0)
