I have a 1994 Mazda 626 LX and the car is in horrible condition. When I accelerate the car often sputters then backfires and will push onwards leaving white smoke. I think the timing may be off or the coil may be damaged but I'd like to get another opinion. I checked the O2 Sensors and their in good condition. Another problem I ran into was the other day the battery died. I test the battery and the load tested good. When I tested the alternator everything checked out ok. Power stays on in the car until I turn the ignition. I think the starter may be bad but don't want to go buy a new one if thats not the problem... Edit: 06/26/08 Turns out that with enough corrosion the battery won't be able to send a charge properly. I got one problem fixed lets see if we can't fix the other issue.
