Nissan Maxima Cylinder Misfire

Nissan Maxima 2000 129000 miles 6cyl Started misfiring intermittently, engine light on. It would start sometimes, and misfire the whole time I drove it, other times, I could drive it just fine. Took into a shop and they said it was a bad coil (P0300 Random Cylinder Misfire and P1320 Primary Ignition Fault), replaced the ignition coil, and it ran fine for a while. When the misfire started again (more frequently) I took it to a different shop, it gave the same codes, only one indicated a particular cylinder, problem is, it wouldn't stay the same cylinder when cleared and checked. Mechanic checked for vacuum leaks, checked the crank sensor, and the fuel injectors. This helped the misfire, but did not fix it entirely. I have replaced the spark plugs and all 6 of the ignition coils, it seemed to be running fine for about 3 weeks after that and it began misfiring again this morning. I am at wit's end with this, it's already cost me $400 and still isn't fixed. My mechanic tells me the only thing he can think of is that aftermarket coils could be causing it. The coils I have are Hamburg Technic, which are aftermarket, but they are brand new, and this problem hasn't truly seemed to change. The only other thing I can think of is that there is something causing the coils to go bad, but I don't know what the would be, since the spark plugs are standard NGK's.

You stated that you checked the injectors. Have you actually removed and inspected them? Inspect the harness and the connectors/plugins real good.. Nissian is having a ton of problems with the inj system.Google "2000 maxima injector problems" for more info. LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH

In addition to what RT advised to do. There is also a problem with some of their grounds coming loose. Look around the v/c & intake, they have grounds bolted there that if they come loose can give you some strange intermittent running problems.... Also even if they are tight, make sure they have a clean connection..

Mechanic removed and ohm tested the injectors, they all tested out fine. The fuel injector(s) was his first guess too. I'm not good with cars at all, v/c? And Air intake I presume? If I know what I'm looking for there's a good chance I can find it an check for myself.

As RT said look at the connections on the injoctors well. Look for green corrosion. Or any type for that matter. these are real bad about the injector plugs getting corroded. Jeff

Sry bout that.........v/c= valve cover and the other would be the intake manifold... Nissan has some braid wire grounds going to both and if the get loose or corroded can cause some problems..
