PLEASE HELP! :( Sign In

basics:
2005 pontiac vibe
about 70k miles
automatic
problem:
every so often, the gas pedal will give up while i'm driving. the engine will still run and everything like normal, except when i press on the gas, nothing happens. no rev'ing, no acceleration, nothing. i have to turn the car off and turn it back on for it to work.

pleeeease help. tell me what's wrong. thanks :)

Hmmm!! Is this like the physical linkage is disconnecting? Sounds like it from your description so I'd check at pedal and underhood at throttle body if there's something funky with cable or attachment parts??

If this is the AWD model ,it has a throttle cable
If its the FWD model,it is electronically controlled.....the accelerator pedal has sensors to tell the Computer what position the accelerator pedal is at.

I suggest taking it in for diagnosis...have the system scanned for codes...
