This vehicle was brought in by the owner citing high engine oil consumption. when we dismantled the head, we saw whitish exhaust valve and visibly dark inlet valve for all four cylinders. Even electrodes of spark plugs were visibly whitish. The pistons of all four cylinders seemingly have slight carbon deposits(kindly refer URL). Now, is this amount of deposit normal for a car with 5000 miles? The engine is fiat safire.

Lets start off with year, make model and engine size.

Was that 5K miles or 50K miles?

A new engine is going to consume more oil because the rings are breaking in. How much oil was it consuming? Any factory tech bullitens concerning oil consumption on that vehicle?
