Re: STALLING Sign In

It sounds like the transmission’s torque converter lock-up solenoid is sticking and holding the torque locked.
A torque converter is kind of like and automatic fluid clutch; at low engine rpm the engine power is not transferred to the transmission. The torque converter on yours has an extra feature that above approximately 40 miles an hour the computer will energize a solenoid locking the torque converter to the engine; so that they turn as a single unit.
When you release the gas pedal or step on the brake the computer sees this and turns off the solenoid allowing the convert to slip.
What happens with some is that this solenoid sticks, keeping the converter locked to the engine. You try to come to a stop and the engine crashes to a stall the same why that a manual transmission car would if you didn’t push the clutch in.
This solenoid is inside the side cover of the transmission and it will need to be replaced. If you are not familiar with working on these kinds of things I suggest having someone do this job for you. The last one I did was around 2 hundred bucks to the customer.
