Synthetic to Conventional Sign In
I have a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue with 120,000 miles. While I was on vacation, my boyfriend had the oil changed and put conventional in it. Today, we noticed a piece of paper taped under the hood saying it's only had synthetic. A friend of mine is telling me that going from synthetic to conventional will cause my engine to blow. Everything else I've seen online says switching won't be an issue. Can I get an opinion on this?

It's preferred not to keep switching but there won't be a problem to switch it back.

I agree. As long as you use the same recommend viscosity oil, you shouldn't have any problems.

  1. Ditto - they are said to be compatible back and forth. I like synthetic oils but IMO either are fine on time,
