TRUCK PROBLEM URGENT

I was driving down the highway at about fifty. And then I heard a loud pop that sounded like a .22 pistol. It came from behind me- so not in the hood. I also saw a little bit of white smoke coming from behind me. The truck basically died and I had to pull over. Now the truck wont start but its not the battery because I can still listen to music and turn on lights in the truck. When I try to turn it on the engine starts revving but It wont get to the point to where it will start. What might be wrong with it?
