My 2006 Mazda 6 engine kills when I hit the brakes, also kills if I rev the engine up to 6000 rpm (give it gas).

I am subsequently able to jump the car off and it will idle ok.

Any input will be appreciated.

Re: Trouble With Mazda 6 Engine Sign In

Check engine light on? If so, scan and write down the code(s).

What is the charging system voltage at the battery terminals?

You stated you had to jump the vehicle? Have you made sure the battery tests good and the terminals are clean and tight?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Re: Trouble With Mazda 6 Engine Sign In

Just comment: If you rev this up without load to 6,000 RPM you are going to blow this engine despite what other troubles it has. Many engines have a rev limiter far below that #.

Brakes alter the show. Vacuum booster or line to it should be checked out,
