Truck not starting

I have a 1998 S10 2 wheel, 6 cyl with 140,000 miles. My problem is trying to start my truck, when I put the key in none of my guages move. The engine turns over but will not stay running. I think it is either my ignition switch, or the key assembly. I traded keys with my wife and it worked for a few days. But not again it is like the security system shuts it down. any suggestions?

The dash cluster is an integral part of the security system. If the gauges are going blank, that's a pretty good indication that the cluster is failing. You will need a Tech2 scan tool to diagnose it properly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
