Hello Car Junkies : I have a 2003 Mercury Sable with the 24V Duratec engine, 63K miles. I love this car. It runs like a top. But, it has a noticable tap in one valve. Of course, it's only noticable at idle, but it's bothersome. Question: Should I have this problem corrected, or, just live with it ? What's involved with fixing it ? Expensive ? I need advice ! Thanks...

Nobody is going to know the extent or source of the problem until it is disassembled and inspected. It could have been triggered by lack of oil changes and if that is the case, things will likely continue to get worse and multiply. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
