You're going to have to explain what the hell that is. Your description doesn't tell us anything. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

If it looks like that, you can drive it safely till you get a replacement as long as coolant isn't leaking out of it. That is the thermal or bimetallic vacuum valve for the the EVAP system. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Don't worry. It threw me for a loop too. I was thinking about those bimetallic valves for those thermostatic air cleaners. Then I remembered one of our older customers had Toy around the same year with the 5S in it. Every time I changed his oil, I tried selling that BVSV near the thermostat housing cause it was broken. Every time it was nope..its running fine. Guy was loaded too. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

LOL, it would have been a lot clearer if he just called it a thermal vacuum switch ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
