I have a 2001 jetta 1.8t, car broke down in the middle of my normal commute got it home and the scan tool I have is not the best but it works and give me a place to start. Anyway the code I get is P0221 which is the throttle position sensor, where is that, I replaced the accelerator peddle assembly about two years ago when this code came up and it worked fine after that no code now it shows the same code but when I look for the part online the part that comes up is not the peddle assembly. So did I change the wrong part then, Any info would be helpful thanks.

This is a "drive by wire" system so the TPS is incorporated into the throttle body and the whole throttle body has to be changed.

The angle sensors are located in the throttle body. VW calls it a throttle valve control module. You need an enhanced scan tool to look at the manufacture data and see what the TPS angle voltages or percentages are while the throttle is being manipulated. Best tool in my opinion is a lab scope to check the analog voltage of the sensor in question. Could be a faulty sensor, wiring, connector, or ECU causing that code.

If the throttle valve control module is the fault, the replacement will need to be adapted to the engine control unit.
