car will not start

99 cougar will not start. Checked the battery and it was fine and even tried to jump it to make sure. Can't get to the starter to check it. I tried to pop the clutch and it still did not start. Please help if you can. Also the car was parked for several weeks.

OK. Lets start from scratch. Does the engine turn over when you turn the key? That is, does it make noise like it wants to start. Or is it a fast clicking noise? Or is it a single loud click? Or does it do nothing at all? Does the engine spin over faster than normal? We need a few more answers to these questions to help you more. The more information we have, the better we can help diagnose.
