Hi. I have a peugout 406 2.0hdi on a 51 plate. for a couple of weeks the low coolant warning light has come on (mainly whilst driving to france). there has been no increase in engine temp (according to the temp gauge) or loss of performance. there are no visible signs of leak and no signs of leakage under the car when it has been parked up overnight. I have topped it up three or four times, no more than about 1 litre at a time. for the last couple of days, the light has flicked on and when i have checked once the engine cooled, the coolant was not low in the header tank. I have checked the dip stick and the oil filler cap and there are no signs of water. any ideas please. thanks

You will have to pressure test the cooling system to find the leak. It could be external but it could also be internal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
