I have a ford 86 crown vic ltd and I was told by the ford dealer ship that 86 threw 90 ford cars pullies are interchangeable cause my pullie is a discontinues part. So I went to a junk yard and pulled of a pullie for a mercury cougar. I was also told to count the teeth and they have the same amount of teeth but my original is 6 ins and the one i pulled off is almost 7in. I will fit in my car but will it damage my car putting a bigger pullie in.

Which engine in your car?
Which pulley are you talking about?
Which engine and year of car you removed the supposed replacement pulley from?

Count the grooves on pulleys. Ford did make some with 6 and some with 7 and will tear up a belt in no time. All Crown Vics that were not police package cars were 5.0 engines,

Re: cown victorian Sign In

if the grooves are the same and it spins freely the only issue will be if the belt will be to short..35 bucks for a new longer belt ...it might be easier to get the right pulley...good luck

This pulley signals a Crank Sensor. You can't just simply throw any pulley on there.
