engine interchange

have a 05 dodge Durango (4.7 w/egr) was told due to several engine problems its best to replace, found a 06 wondering if it interchangeable.

Salvage yards (junkyards) have software that can tell which engine matches EXACTLY or not even when they might look identical may not work at all for the silliest difference. Plain call one with info on each at the ready is my suggestion, T

why condemn the current engine? Seams a poor solution - barring a catastrophic eng failure.

I think they will interchange...at least the long blocks will from 2004-2007. There is a difference between 2wd and 4wd though. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
