Have the trouble codes read. This will give you a place to start your diagnosis. Post back the EXACT code number and we can help you more.

Re: engine sputtering Sign In

The code will probably be code P0300....A Misfire code.If the check engine light is flashing then there is a chance that you can damage your catalytic converter by driving vehicle. Many things can cause this....anything from plug wires, faulty ignition coils, bad maf, fuel pressure, egr or injector problems.even system grounds but not very likely. It is hard to diagnose without proper testing equipment.Could do a tuneup plugs wires.Take coil packs off and look for carbon tracking and do resistance testing.Test fuel pressure with gauge.Injectors need special tools.Could get a spark tester at local auto parts and hook to each plug wire and ground to negative battery terminal and start car and see if crisp blue spark do on all plugs. The injectors are hard to test unless remove plenum and hook a noid light to each one and start and see if injector pulses. That does not tell you in injector is bad just that the circuit going to injector is bad.would need a labscope and a tool that does injector balance testing looking for roughly around the same amount of pressure drop on all injectors.Just some thoughts.

Re: engine sputtering Sign In

I wanted to add the sputtering may be injector related.
